Service Overview and Reviews
Protocols: OpenVPN, PPTP VPN
Service: OverPlay offers high speed connections via 650+ VPN servers in 50+ countries. OverPlay supports multiple VPN technologies including PPTP, L2TP/IPSec and OpenVPN.
It’s great for connecting from PC, Mac or Linux. While PPTP extends compatibility to mobile devices such as iPhone, iPad, Android devices, etc.
The use of peer-2-peer networks (P2P) such as Bit Torrent is permitted but they do not allow sharing of pirated material.
Up to 3 simultaneous connections per account
Many people use OverPlay to watch BBC iplayer outside the UK.
Privacy: OverPlay log connection times and data usage totals but they are only stored for a limited time. See their Policy/Terms/FAQ
Our Thoughts: A solid performer if unspectacular. The software set-up was simple and performance and reliability were OK but the price is a bit expensive with no longer term discount options.

Been a customer of Overplay for around six years. Originally the service was ok, but recently speeds have dropped off and the service is unusable. I regularly achieve speeds fifteen times as fast with a competitor. Dreadful support and non-existent customer service. No refunds. AVOID!
Purchased DNS facility, cannot get it to work. Blurb sounds good, but reality not. Tried with customer support to get it up and running without success. Dissapointed.
Protection works unless the VPN stops working, in which case it still shows as connected but will allow anyone to see your IP address. In an hour, seems to disconnect at least twice on average over the last few weeks. I have written customer service and always send a reply back if I have tried the safe logon. I have many times. Try something else.
Absolutely atrocious customer service. For a week I contacted them everyday because I had problems accessing netflix and nbc olympics website. At first got emails every 24 hours asking questions and providing support, then after 4 replys it went 100% silent. I kept trying to contact them and no replies. Went to their website and used their online chat, and kept getting promised they would contact me and for a week, nothing. Not worth the aggravation. Seems when they can’t fix it, they just ignore you and keep your money… Stay away…
Speeds ok and fairly reliable but over priced and lacking in real privacy. I’ll be looking else where when my month runs out in a few days
Decent VPN service with good server selection. But lately I’ve not found the US servers not to be up to par for watching Hulu and netflix in Australia. UK servers are still fine for the BBC. Could be a blip and I may look elsewhere unless speeds improve
I changed when Witopia got blocked in my area in China and Overplay are great. their domain name doesn’t ‘vpn” in it so the Chinese can’t/don’t filter that.
Since the latest crackdown in China (Nov 2012) , I could not get access to any overplay server.
They need to change their gameplay against the Chinese, the ports are fixed
so it too easy for the Chinese to block.
