Service Overview and Reviews

Protocols: OpenVPN, PPTP and L2TP

Service: TorGuard offers a VPN service to anonymize your internet connection via 3000+ servers across 50+ countries including: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Netherlands, Norway, Iceland, India, Germany, Turkey, Russia, Romania, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore.

P2P/Torrents allowed on servers in Netherlands, Canada, Russia, Romania, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway.

The client software has recently been updated to Viscosity, a feature rich client where you can check the status of your connection, easily switch servers, auto start and reconnect and more.

  • Windows and Mac – “Lite” OpenVPN client (portable version) and Pro Viscosity (most popular)
  • Linux (one of the only fully working linux gui apps we’ve seen)
  • Android – The TorGuard app is available on Google play and is compatible with almost every android 4.0 device. PPTP and L2TP are supported for older devices.
  • iPhone and iPad – For non-jailbroken devices, PPTP and L2TP are supported. For OpenVPN your device must be jailbroken.

Includes easy Torrent Proxy setup software that adds the optimal proxy settings to torrent clients like Deluge, utorrent, Bittorrent and Vuze. The software is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Server status page shows real-time overview of servers where you can check if there’s any known issues and what protocols are available on each server.

TorGuard’s new Stealth VPN service enables you to bypass DPI firewalls and unlock access to/from countries like China, Iran and the UAE.

One particularly handy feature with Torguard is they also allow up to 5 simultaneous connections per VPN account.

TorGuard also offers bittorrent proxy and seedbox options.

Additional Services
DD-WRT Router and Streaming TV box store

Offers a wide variety of DDWRT and Tomato Routers that come pre-configured and ready to “plug and play”.

Anonymous PGP encrypted email service

Privacy: TorGuard does not keep logs of customer activity, store IP’s or time stamps. See their Policy/Terms/FAQ

Coupon / Promo:* We have negotiated a special discount of 50% with TorGuard. Insert the TorGuard promo code bvpn4u50 just before the checkout to receive your discount.

Our Thoughts: We tested the VPN service only and results in our speed tests were decent. If you want to anonymize your torrent downloads this definitely does the job.

The Viscosity software client is slick and very easy to use and we particularly liked the server status details pop-up.

Torguard has been rapidly improving and expanding all aspects of their services, so we expect it to keep getting better over time. We also experienced excellent support responsiveness, and they seem to be very helpful in quickly addressing any issues, concerns, feedback, or technical problems.

The 5 simultaneous connections feature is really a huge and unique plus for many people from a flexibility standpoint, especially given the ever increasing use of mobile devices.

Wow. So I got the 50% deal and was excited. However, my credentials only allowed me to use the Android version. The desktop version would not work for me. So I’ve been contacting support every couple of days for a few weeks. The told me to submit a ticket. Every time I would try, the website would keep asking me for my login info on every step of the process and my ticket would not be submitted (even though I’m 100% I had the correct login info). Sometimes I would get farther in the process than others without being interrupted to requiring my login info again. It was super frustrating. No matter how hard I tried, I could not submit a ticket. Tried on different computers and browsers. Then their support would tell me to email “support@torguard.net” and that would solve the problem. I sent emails dozens of times and no response. They said they were not receiving my emails. This whole process went on for over a month. I kept getting the run around and received the exact same responses every time such as “my superior is going to fix this today”. Anyway, I’ve been trying to get my money back, but of course. I finally spend about 30 minutes today trying to submit a ticket. After dozens of times (and resubmitting tickets all of those times), I was finally able to submit ONE ticket and maybe I’ll get my money back. Who knows? I’ve used many different VPNs, and this was by far the worst experience. Broken product. Broken website. Horrible Support.Good luck.

      @Mantis

This reason you didn’t get a reply for months is because you were sending mail to “techsupport@torguard.net”, an invalid email address. Our support team told you this maybe 10 times?

We replied to all your tickets, and you never replied back. Telling our staff, “your shit is broke” doesn’t help in the troubleshooting process either.

Your refund was issued days ago, however you are still not aware because you don’t check your email.

We highly suggest you take some beginner computer lessons. This will teach you how to use things like email, logins, passwords, and explain how to install programs:

While our service is extremely easy to use, you will need to have basic computer skills to operate our website.

Their service is ok, but unfortunately is you test it very very hard you find out that they do not fullfill everything they promise… Several servers for VPN have leaks. I tested all the VPN servers here http://www.dnsleaktest.com/ and I find out that more tha 50% of them leaked and I was petrified to find out my ISP. But there are some servers like Switzerland, New Zealand and one in USA which does not leak. So realibilty unfortunately is not their main advantage.

Re: the DNS leak issue. We hadn’t noticed any problems from our end, and just tested all Torguard servers again for leaks after seeing your comment. Still no issues detected on this end.

Something to keep in mind is Windows itself is often the culprit, not necessarily the servers, and the positive leak results on dnsleaktest may not always be real. See more here:

Awesome service, using the torrent proxy right now. First service I’ve found with proxies that actually support UDP!!! I’m getting 7MBs download speeds on the NL servers which is quite fast for my needs. Haven’t needed to talk to support yet but I’ve heard they have good customer service.

Best vpn provider on the market… You can’t beat the price, service quality or customer support. Five stars all around. If you download alot of torrents these guys are your best bet. I’m using both the VPN and proxy service and couldn’t be happier 🙂

Best VPN out there /tried CactusVPN and Cryptocloud

    Why?

    No logs
    Lots of servers
    Good Tech support
    Unlimited speeds/bandwidth
    TORRENTS supported

I’ve tried CactusVPN – they keep logs, so I don’t like that. It doesn’t make sense using VPN in that case

Tried Cryptocloud, no logs, but not what I was looking for

When I found TorGuard, I was amazed by the amount of servers that are available (they keep adding them), and the fact that they do not keep any logs (not even a timestamps) so I am anonymous

They support torrents, which is a huge + in my book

For 30$ per year (this was their Black Friday sale), you won’t find better hosting, I guarantee it!

I tried torguard earlier this year and canceled cause they didn’t have enough server options for me. After looking around a bit and comparing prices, I’m back! It seems they’ve really put together a good service now, adding many new servers.. they also seem more stable than I remember before. Support staff always replies to me within an hour and is very helpful. I’m a happy customer!

Recently signed up for this VPN after doing extensive research. At first I had troubles setting up on my Mac, but after quick and pleasant exchanges with their support team, I determined it was a DNS issue, and was able to resolve it. Now have it working perfectly on both Windows and Mac. The speed is great, and I can confirm it totally hides you with no leaks. It’s very simple to use, the service/support has so far been great and fast, and the price on the quarterly/yearly plans is really hard to beat. Overall I could not be more satisfied for my requirements. Highly recommended.

    Service seems to be stable.

2 issues that I wanted to talk about.

    1. Emule is getting Low ID, I think there is some issue with port forwarding as well. No issues if I use another vpn service I subscribe to so its Torguard issue.

    2. The L2TP/IPSec service seems to be for new users. As an old subscriber I asked my friend a new subscriber to give me his settings. I tried using my login pass I was unable to use it on L2TP servers after getting kick out when attempt use it but if use my friend’s login pass I was able to get through. Sounds like poor implementation. What about us already subscribed before this service was available!
