Our Review: HideMyAss VPN is a very good service and is both easy to use and stable with fast speeds across the network. The global server network is among the largest available with a choice of more than one server in many countries.
The client software is probably the best on the market and is packed with features including easy IP switching and the ability to speed test all the servers from within the software. The ‘Secure IP bind’ feature is an added security bonus for P2P users.

Tips: If speeds are slow with OpenVPN and you aren’t hyper-paranoid about security, try PPTP. PPTP tends to be faster, and is perfectly fine for most stuff. When selecting similar locations from the list, it seems generally the last ones in the group are fastest (i.e. – LOC1 S5 might be faster than LOC1 S1). Also, don’t trust the load balancing feature too much, because there could be a good reason more people are using some servers vs. others (like they’re faster).

Overall, OK. Sometimes it’s failed to reconnect after I reboot my computer. Speed varies from very slow to quite fast and on some servers it makes my pc crash dont know why. Support say it’s my computer but I just had it fixed
Does what it says on the tin. The ease of use and setup is great for Novice computer users. The software is pleasing and easy to use. I will surely extend my time and be protected for another year soon!

HMA gives nice selection of servers in different countries, nice speed not only for browsing but for downloading, no restriction in traffic and its easy to use. My 10mb connection remains at near max speed except during a few peak usage hours.
When using HMA, not only is your bittorrent connection secure and anonymous, you can switch servers with a mouse-click and speed is great for me watching movies and youtube at high def

@Mr L – Fair point about that situation and we have downgraded HideMyAss on the anonymity page. However, keeping things in perspective we feel the lulzsec incident was a pretty extreme situation and isn’t something that would even be in the realm of concern for the vast majority of users doing things like P2P or bypassing geo-restrictions. For any kind of high-risk activism though, it’s best to avoid fully trusting any VPN provider regardless of what they say. AirVPN really seems to have the best suggestion of using a VPN over Tor for that, combined with the added step of using an anonymous payment method like Bitcoin.
I’ve tried many torrent proxys and I’m just not convinced there won’t be IP or DNS leaks in the background.
I want my entire connection encrypted and anonymized and that’s why I picked HMA vpn. Multiple servers around the world with specific ones for P2P and you can switch between them at will at no extra cost. Love the interface.
